Welcome to the Attenborough Village Bowls Club (AVBC) website
We are a small friendly outdoor bowls club situated in the village of Attenborough (near Beeston, Nottingham). It has been said that our venue on the edge of the Attenborough Nature Reserve is one of the most picturesque in the County.
We operate on an annual membership basis with new members always very welcome. Please feel free to come down and have a few roll-up sessions before deciding if you would like to join the club. Coaching can be arranged if you are new to the game or require a quick refresher and we have a supply of bowls which can be borrowed.
First founded in 1908 Attenborough Village Bowls Club was reformed in 1981 and in 1991 moved to the present site on the outskirts of Nottingham, about halfway between Beeston and Long Eaton. We have a private clubhouse and green and are open on Monday, Thursday and Saturday afternoons during April through September for social bowling (meeting at 1.50 for a) 2pm start for 1 or 2 hours of play, depending upon how long you would like to play for, followed by a cup of tea (and cakes on Saturday). The club runs a number of internal competitions on a knockout basis during the season as well as some tournaments that run throughout the season. Members can also use the facilities any time as long as the rinks have not been pre-booked .
We hold social events throughout the year and keep members up to date of events via Newsletters.
The 2023 season commenced on Saturday 15th April.
Club and League games can be found under the Fixtures heading (any changes during the season will be updated there as soon as possible).
The club also arranges occasional friendly games against local clubs as well as operating in both the Nottinghamshire Bowls Leagues and the Beeston Open League. During the winter months some players play at the Erewash Indoor Bowls Centre representing various teams that compete on different days during the week.
